Consider a road
system, with moving vehicles of various types, junctions, traffic lights
and roadworks. Together these make a complex system with many interacting
elements.
The ProGress Model represents such a system. What is it for and who could use it ?

Selecting a Junction![]() |
|
Using such a model a user can study any road system to analyse the 'what-if' questions. What if we change the schedule of
the lights at a junction, do we get longer or shorter queues ? |

Roadworks with Control Lights![]() |
| A
user could be a local government planning department considering a new
development, a contracting company planning to bid for a road-works contract or an agency tasked with comparing competing bids. |

The user can control the graphics display size, speed and centre or, running without graphics, can simulate many hours of traffic in a few minutes and collect the statistics decribing the flow.
What other civilian applications are there for such techniques and models ?
Any transport system or network,
manufacturing production lines, distribution systems,
hospital, hotel or college resource optimisation, car park design
